OpenToolbox

About OpenToolbox

OpenToolbox is a collection of free online tools that run entirely in your web browser. Your files never leave your device: no server receives them, and closing the tab discards them.

No server ever sees your files

The site is a set of static files (pages, JavaScript, WebAssembly and fonts) with no backend that could accept an upload. When you open a file, your browser reads it into memory and the tool processes it right there, with standard web technologies such as Canvas, Web Audio, WebCodecs, WebAssembly, Web Workers and, for AI, WebGPU. The result is created on your device and saved through your browser's normal download.

AI tools: the model comes to you

AI tools such as the background remover or speech-to-text don't send your data to an AI service. Instead, your browser downloads an open-source model from Hugging Face, pinned to a fixed version, and keeps it in its cache, so later runs start faster without downloading it again. The model then runs on your device: your pictures, recordings and text are processed only there.

Maps

The GIS viewer loads background map tiles from OpenFreeMap so you can see where your data is. Only the map area you look at is requested, and you can switch the basemap off. Your own files are never sent.

Library telemetry, blocked

Some libraries report usage statistics by default. MediaPipe, which the passport photo maker and face swap use to find faces, would send anonymous usage data to Google every minute; we answer those requests inside your browser, so nothing is sent. Libraries that would download code or fonts from public CDNs are set up to load them from this site instead.

Check it yourself

Under every tool, a small “Local processing” indicator lists the servers the page has contacted and counts uploads, which stay at zero. For the full picture, open your browser's developer tools and watch the Network tab while you use a tool. After using a tool once, you can even go offline: most tools keep working in the same tab, because they don't need the network to process your files.

No account

There is nothing to sign up for and no login. Some tools remember your settings or drafts in your browser's local storage, which stays on your device.

How the site is funded

The tools are free. To pay for them we may show ads around the tools (never inside them) and recommend partner products marked as sponsored. When ads are shown, Google and its partners may use cookies, after asking for your consent where the law requires it. Ads and affiliate partners never receive your files. The privacy & cookies page explains the details and how to change your consent.

Built on open source

The tools are built on excellent open-source projects. We credit each of them, with its authors and license, on the tool page and on the open-source credits page.

How our guides are written

Each guide describes the tool as it actually works: options, limits and error messages come from the tool itself, and the numbers are measured with the published tool on real files, which are listed at the end of every guide together with the computer used. The date at the top changes only when the content does.
