Quick answers
Are the bead and thread colors exact?
No. Brands don't publish exact RGB values, so the tables are community approximations and screens differ. Matching uses CIEDE2000, the most perceptual standard color difference, but always check against a real color chart before buying.
When should I use dithering?
For photos and gradients: it mixes neighboring colors to suggest shades the palette lacks. For logos, cartoons and pixel art keep it off, so flat areas stay one color, and use the Sharp sampling mode.

How to use the Perler Bead Pattern Maker
- Open a picture (or try the sample) and pick the area that becomes the pattern under Select area.
- Choose the width in beads (29, 58, 87, 116 for pegboards, or custom) and the pattern type: beads, cross-stitch, diamond painting or pixel art.
- Pick a palette (Perler, Hama, Artkal S, DMC or the best colors for the picture), untick colors you don't own, and try dithering, clean-up or background removal.
- Hover or tap cells to read their color, then download the numbered PDF chart, a PNG and the shopping list.

Frequently asked questions
How are bags and skeins estimated?
Bead bags hold 1,000 beads (Hama also 3,000). A DMC skein is taken as about 1,800 full cross stitches on 14-count with two strands, scaled for other fabrics; diamond bags hold 200 drills. A spare percentage is added; you can change all of these.
Is my picture uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser, including the PDF; your color choices are only remembered in this browser.
