Free Random Number Generator

Random Number Generator draws unbiased numbers in any range up to 2^53, as whole numbers or decimals, with or without repeats and sorted as you like. It uses crypto.getRandomValues with rejection sampling, has presets such as 1–100, dice and lottery 6 of 49, and can pick names from a list or shuffle it.

Quick answers

Are the numbers truly random?

They come from the browser's cryptographically secure generator (crypto.getRandomValues), the same source used for encryption keys.

How to use the Random Number Generator

  1. Set the minimum and maximum, or click a preset like 1–100, a dice roll or lottery 6 of 49.
  2. Choose whole numbers or decimals, how many numbers you need, whether repeats are allowed and the sort order.
  3. Press Generate, then copy the result or download it as a text or CSV file.
  4. Use “Pick from a list” to draw names at random or shuffle a whole list.

Frequently asked questions

What does “unbiased” mean here?

A naive approach takes a random number modulo the range size, which slightly favors small values. We use rejection sampling instead: raw values beyond the largest exact multiple of the range are discarded and drawn again, so every number has exactly the same chance.

Why can't I draw 10 unique numbers from 1 to 5?

Without repeats you can draw at most as many numbers as exist in the range. The tool tells you how many distinct values are available.
